Dr. Paul Gregory earned his B.S. from the Univ. of Kansas and his M.H.A. from the Univ. of Memphis. He is a graduate of UMKC College of Dentistry. He served in the US Air Force for two years and then entered private practice for the next twenty years. Dr. Gregory joined the UT Dental College faculty in 1993 and is currently serving as a member of the Department of General Practice Dentistry. He has been active in teaching laser dentistry to faculty and students. He is currently co-author of several research papers which involve dental laser treatment.
Dr. Lyusya "Lucy" Badishyan was on of the first in the field to teach and practice the clinical applications of laser dentistry in Russia. She studied at Tver Medical Academy; one of the Russia's premier medical schools in the former Soviet Union, where she first learned about laser applications in dentistry. Dr. Lucy received her DMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lucy has taught advanced courses on the clinical aspect of different areas of oral laser applications, and performed scientific research in the field of regeneration utilizing bone and membranes in periodontal implant therapy. As the Chief of the Dental Department in the Moscow Dental Clinic, Dr. Badishyan instructed, trained and supervised a team of dentists who became highly qualified specialists. Dr. Lucy is currently a part-time instructor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and runs a private dental practice in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
James Carroll was trained as an electronics engineer since 1978 and has worked with low level laser therapy devices since 1988. Mr. Carroll has a particular interest and expertise in irradiation parameters and dose as this aspect of Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) research has been poorly measured, poorly reported and the dose rate not well understood. As a result, he has gained an international reputation for his conference presentations, published papers and educational seminars on this topic. Mr. Carroll continues as Conference Chair of the Biomedical Optics Society, is Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine, is on the Editorial Board of Photomedicine and Laser Surgery, sits on the Board of the World Association for Laser Therapy and the North American Association for Laser Therapy. Mr. Carroll is an expert reviewer on LLLT parameters for the following: Public Library of Science (PLoS ONE), Photomedicine and Laser Surgery, Photomedicine and Photochemistry, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology Biology, and Annals of Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Christopher J. Walinski is the Program Director for the Mastership Program in Laser Dentistry and has been an author, inventor and innovator in Laser Dentistry for almost two decades. His 2003 text on laser dentistry has been published in over ten languages. He is a Founding member of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health, and the World Clinical Laser Institute, from which he has received Masters certification. Dr. Walinski is a Diplomate and Past-President of the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry, and sits on numerous laser dentistry boards worldwide. He is Associate Professor and Director of Laser Dentistry at The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and is a Visiting Professor at several dental colleges, emphasizing dentistry using lasers and other technologies.
Dr. Robert Miller is a 1981 graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at Flushing Medical Center in New York and currently practices in Delray Beach, Florida at The Center for Advanced Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry. Dr. Miller is a Master of the IPS, Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology. He currently serves as chairman of the Department of Oral Implantology at the Atlantic Coast Dental Research Clinic in Palm Beach Florida and is a member of the executive board of the Society for Oral Laser Applications (SOLA), based at the University of Vienna, Austria. He began his training in lasers in 1990 using multiple wavelengths. In 1997, Dr. Miller was the first purchaser of the Er,Cr:YSGG laser. For the last 18 years he has been a major proponent of the use of the lasers in dental surgery and oral implantology.
INTERNATIONAL DENTAL LASER RESEARCH INSTITUTE
Dr. Cesar A. Migliorati graduated from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. He holds a Master’s Degree in Stomatology from USP, a Certificate in Oral Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and is board certified by the American Board of Oral Medicine. He held teaching positions at USP, UCSF, University of Florida, and University of Zurich. He completed his PhD in HIV, antiretroviral therapy and oral candidiasis at USP in 2002. Dr. Migliorati has worked in oral medicine for the past 22 years in teaching, research and patient care. He was one of the pioneers in the diagnosis and management of oral manifestations of HIV infection and AIDS. He has also worked with, oral mucosal inflammatory diseases, oral infections, oral precancer and cancer and the oral complications of cancer therapy. His research work includes oral precancer and cancer, immunology, HIV infection and immunosuppression, and oral mucositis and low level laser therapy. Dr. Migliorati was one of the discoverers of bisphosphonate osteonecrosis (BON). His letter to the editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology in 2003 was the first report of this new oral complication of supportive cancer therapy in the medical literature. His recent publications on bisphosphonate osteonecrosis in the journal Cancer, The Lancet Oncology, Journal of the American Dental Association and many others are thought provoking.
Dr. Les Binkley graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1974. He completed his residency in periodontology at The Ohio State University in with his master’s degree in 1978. Dr. Binkley began his full time private practice in Memphis, Tennessee and part time assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1978. He has published several peer reviewed articles in periodontics and has been using lasers in his practice for 10 years. Dr. Binkley has over 8,000 clinical hours of treating periodontitis using a laser. He has experience in Diodes, Nd:YAG, Erbium, and C02 lasers. He recently completed a study of 225 patients comparing conventional periodontal surgery with and without regeneration, Erbium, and Nd:YAG. Dr. Binkley has given many lectures and training seminars in the use of lasers in treatment of periodontal disease both nationally and internationally. Because of Dr. Binkley and other faculty, lasers are used in most all departments at the University Of Tennessee College of Dentistry today.
Dr. Eric Linden is a graduate of Boston University School of Dental Medicine where he received his DMD degree and the University of Kentucky where he received his Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science degree in 1985. Dr Linden is a Professor of Periodontics, Implants, and Oral Medicine at Columbia University in New York City, where he teaches and is involved in research. He is on the editorial board of Dentistry Today, Implant US, and is on the peer review panel of many others. As a Professor at Columbia University, Dr Linden is directing several clinical trials now in progress assessing the efficacy of laser treatment around failing implants. He is currently serving on the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Committee on Peri-implantitis. In addition, he is teaching, certifying, and training faculty, residents, and doctors from around the world the various laser therapies including the Nd:YAG (LANAP) laser, Erbiums 2780nm and 2940nm, CO2 10,600nm and diodes. Dr. Eric Linden is one of the first pioneers in the field of laser periodontal surgery and also works in private practice. With 30 years’ experience in periodontal specialty practice, he performs, teaches and trains other doctors laser procedures worldwide.
Dr. Melissa A. Marchesan graduated dental school from the University of São Paulo. She continued by pursuing a Masters in Restorative Dentistry, with a focus in endodontics and lasers. In 2007, she completed her PhD, furthering her research in endodontics and lasers. Dr. Marchesan has presented her research at many national and international conferences. In 2010, Dr. Marchesan was appointed Associate Professor in Endodontics at Nova Southeastern University. The American Association of Endodontists awarded Dr. Marchesan the Endodontic Educator Fellowship Award in 2011, enabling her to complete her specialty training in the United States. Dr. Marchesan currently develops research and mentors post-graduate students in the Department of Endodontics at UTHSC. Dr. Marchesan is the chair of the North American branch of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD).
Dr. Suchetan Pradhan earned his BDS from Nair Hospital, Mumbai, in 1983, MDS in Prosthodontics from Nair Hospital in 1986. MSc in Laser Dentistry, Aachen University, Germany 2008. Dr. Pradhan has 27 years of experience in the field of Dental Implantology, and has used virtually all the implant systems available. He has lectured extensively & conducted workshops in over 25 countries on Cosmetic Dentistry, Laser Dentistry, Fixed Prosthodontics & Implant Dentistry. Dr. Pradhan ghs published several papers and is also a co-author of a chapter on dental Radiology in a Radiology textbook. Is the pioneer of Minimally Invasive Dentistry in India with extensive experience on both hard and soft tissue lasers. Performed the first live teeth in an hour surgery on television in India (NDTV) 2005. Has conceptualized, designed and conducts the Nobel fellow program for Nobel Biocare, Sweden. Member of Academy of Laser Dentistry USA & member International Committee till 2011. Board Member, Laser Education International, US. Founder President, Indian Academy of Laser Dentistry since 2004 to date. Visiting professor at Taipei Medical University February 2014 – January 2017. Director, Department of Laser Dentistry, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. Professor, Implantology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, University of Manipal. Editor-in-Chief – International Journal of Laser Dentistry. Head of Dentistry, P.D. Hinduja Hospital, Bombay since 1990. Director, Pradhan Dental Centre.
Dr. Yue Weng Cheu completed his BDS degree at the National University of Singapore and was awarded The Pierre Fauchard Academy Foundation Annual Scholarship Award. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Fellow of International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute. He is also a Member of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons, England. An ISCD-Certified International CEREC trainer (Paris 2010, Istanbul 2012 and Barcelona 2014). He has also obtained his Certificate of Oral Implantology from Frankfurt University. He has also completed the full TMD continuum at Occlusion Connections under the tutelage of Dr Clayton Chan. Dr Yue has been lecturing and conducting hands-on courses on Clinical Digital Photography, CAD-CAM, Laser Dentistry and TMD. He is the Clinical Director of DP Dental and his six-chair practice focusing on integrated utilization of advanced dental technology such as Laser, CAD-CAM and 3D jaw tracking and imaging to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Yuan-Kai Lin is a Doctor of Dental Surgery and a graduate of Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He has numerous accreditations of few of which include: Certification in Implantology and Periodontology from New York University, Member of the Academy of Osseointegration, Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute, Board Member of the Taipei Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Director for the Verax Cosmetic Dental Center, Taipei, Taiwan.
Dr. Gilles P. Chaumanet graduated from the University of Nantes, France, in 1983. He is Professor at the University of Cagliari in Italy. He maintains a private practice in oral surgery and implantology in Villeneuve Loubet, France and Verona, Italy. Dr. Chaumanet has earned Masters degrees in Lasers, Periodontology, Implant therapy, Oral surgery, Radiology and Anatomy. He is President of the French Chapter of the Society for Oral Laser Applications (SOLAFr) and President for France of the Academy of Laser Education (ALE), Ambassador of Global Oral Implant Academy (GOIA), Active Member of CENALOS, Member of the French Society of Medical Laser (SFLM), Member of the International Academy of Periodontology (IAP), Member of the Italian Society of Oral Surgery(SICO), Member of AGLZ Academy, Member of International Congress of Oral Implantologist as well as Member in many other Scientific Committees and Societies.
